Your customers have a set of basic digital expectations and one of them is that you have an online presence.
Online means being on social media, being searchable - including through AI - findable so having your information available in the right places E.g opening times on Google and for most businesses it means having your own website.
How you appear online can win and lose you business and picking the right people to build your digital presence is essential.
A good website is an investment and although you will find people offering you bargin basement prices, buyer beware. Having a bad website is going to cost you business and once you've lost a customer it is hard to ever get them back.
We recently started work with a client to help them understand why, despite investing in a nice looking website, customers are not using it.
Our starting point was to understand the clients business, their objectives for the website and what a typical customer needed.
The client was ready to invest to get things right and came to us armed with ideas of things we could build to solve the problem, but we surprised them when we identified five quick, low cost, things they could do with their current provider to make things better.
Yes they had what looked like a nice site on the surface, but when it came to using it things got confusing and took more effort than needed.
This is a good reminder that you should be prepared to invest in a good quality online presence, but that user experience needs to be front and centre if you want it to have the right impact.
